I helped to develop and enhance the online experience for hundo's virtual work experience programmes, designed to integrate seamlessly with existing curricula. These programmes equip students with crucial employment skills, knowledge, and behaviours to succeed in the dynamic future workforce.
The initial idea had been researched by the business through their contacts and validated by presenting it to potential clients (education institutions as well as employers). We then needed to create the whole experience on hundo's "campus", which is accessible only after registration for all users. As things stood, it was possible to create virtual work experiences as courses (modules to be completed by reading or watching videos as well as live sessions with educators) but the process was very manual and relied on educators keeping track of everything and everyone. It was now necessary to create memberships for institutions and their students, allowing individual management of courses and participants.
I leveraged my previous experience on the escape room game to understand and set out data hierarchy, thus enabling me to design admin panels that would allow institutions to invite and manage students, assign them to cohorts and award completion skill badges at the end. At the same time I redesigned the existing markeplace page, modifying existing components to better adapt them to the role of representing the Work Experience modules and articles, adding tabbed navigation and filtering options where necessary. Similarly, I have added search and filtering to the employers page, where hundo makes available information for about 9000 employers, and refined the single employer page template, adding cards to display tipical roles offered in that specific industry.
After extensive internal testing (and super quick usability testing with a few volunteer students) the scheme has been rolled out to three initial clients and is actively being marketed to more colleges and universities. It is receiving feedback from clients and users which allows us to simplify further the experience and introduce new features. This is an ongoing and ever improving, rolling project and all features are being implemented sequentially (May 2024).
I needed to design a clear and linear journey for new users, thus finding a way to display the different tiers of membership to hundo's WEX programmes for individuals or small groups. Consequently, I also needed to create a similar admin panel as the one for the institutions, but much simpler and with less functionalities, to allow users to manage their membership.
During registration (if the user has not been invited) or in restricted areas for those users who already are registered on a free tier, cards will present different membership tiers, with different payment options to the user.
Rather than creating an access to an existing admin panel with reduced capabilities, I thought it'd be much easier and more intuitive to add the main information on the already existing profile page, just creating a different tab and laying out all the information and actions in a clear way.
The profile page admin panel has been added and tested. I worked with back end and front end developers to make sure the cards were displayed at the end of the registration process and all payment options were clear. This project is currently being rolled out and we will be collecting user feedback and data to make sure there are no pain points highlghted by real users.
