While at Wendy Wu Tours I have been working on smaller, low-priority, projects to improve customer experience. This is an example of one of such projects, created with Sketch and InVision Studio.
The current map is static and the itinerary is displayed via a carousel (or PDF download). Users can only scroll one day at a time and cannot jump between days. A fully open itinerary (list view) was an alternative layout we tested but only showed a very small increase in engagement, offset by the increased length of the page.
Through a side-tabbed list (bottom-tabbed on mobile) users can see at a glance every single day of the tour, corresponding to a highlighted pointer on the map. Each day opens as an accordion showing description and main information about inclusions.
Of course this is only an initial prototype which did not not reach testing due to the impact of the 2020 pandemic on the business. A short round of internal reviews was overall positive and improvements were suggested, such as hover states for tabs, moving-zooming map and an image gallery for each day of the tour.
